"Hang ten a little longer. There's got to be a reporter for SurferGirl around here somewhere!"

August 16th marked the 20th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley. I originally planned to spend the day listening to Elvis music and watching his movies. In the evening I'd hoped to go to a big Elvis party to dance the night away! Unfortunately, things certainly didn't turn out the way I'd hoped. First of all, my cable box kept cutting out on me while I tried to watch all the television hoopla. There's nothing more frustrating than losing the signal halfway through the fist fight in "Loving You". And the Elvis party I was in search of didn't exist. Can you believe that in a city as big as San Francisco not one Elvis party could be found? I searched everywhere and came up with nothing. If anyone knows of a good party finder on the Web, drop me a line!

The day wasn't a total loss, though. My stereo held together, so, along with my neighbors, I enjoyed an assortment of Elvis music in the afternoon. However, during the next big anniversary you will no doubt find me in Memphis sobbing with all of the others.
