Review: WebTV Networks

Welcome to the July issue of Club WebTV. The sun is shining, school's out, and the WebTV Network's summer upgrade is in place. It's time to kick back, grab a cold drink, and fire up the WebTV Internet terminal. Check out this month's Inside Scoop to read about all the great features we've added for your surfing pleasure. Then bop on over to Elvis' The Playground or his alter ego Joey's Serendipity to experience some sites that look great with the upgrade in place.

If you are wondering why it took so long to get that upgrade out to all of you, check out In The Family. Dan Berrien, a member of Customer Care's Preview Team, will tell you all about the life cycle of pre-released software. We really wanted to fill you in on all the new stuff last month, but we had to keep it a secret until it was ready to go.

July is also a month for Fourth of July family reunions. Ever wondered what happened to your second cousin on your mother's brother's wife's side of the family? We've had tons of e-mail to Customer Corner these past months thanking WebTV Networks for giving them an avenue to find these long-lost folks. This month's WebTV Tips gives helpful advice about how to search the World Wide Web for friends or relatives, and also about how to avoid being found!

This month's Speakeasy takes Internet communication a bit further and gives a quick lesson in HTML, the most frequently used language to design web pages. Since the spring, HTML's been supported by your WebTV mail reader! This means you can send HTML messages to your fellow Club WebTV members - with bigger text, in different colors, or even bold and italicized.

Now, on a final note, many of you write asking, "How do I get the newsletter? How do I become a member?" So let's set the record straight. Any and all WebTV Internet terminal users are automatically members of Club WebTV! If you're looking at this on your television screen, you're in the club. You're pioneers into the new developments of Internet communication and television technology. Even if you're not new to the Internet and World Wide Web, you're new to using a WebTV Internet terminal -- after all, it's only been on the market for less than a year. Club WebTV, the official online newsletter of WebTV Networks, is written just for you.

To access Club WebTV at any time, simply choose "Using WebTV" on your home page. To view previous issues, go to the column Everything Else, and scroll to the bottom. This is our sixth issue! That's half a year's worth of tips, fun and information!

Have a great summer!
