Hello Club WebTV members! This edition of Club WebTV is proudly brought to you by many new writers and contributors. Three new Customer Caretakers have pitched in and made this issue as informative and fun as the previous issues. We've got a great issue this month. We're sure you'll enjoy our upcoming features as much as you have been enjoying some of our latest features, like newsgroups. Newsgroups give people the opportunity to share ideas and thoughts - and their e-mail address. With so many new people with the webtv.net domain out showing off their opinions and input, spammers have found a whole new audience. While most people don't enjoy junk e-mail any more than regular junk mail, mass mailings are rewarding enough to encourage people to continue. In fact, some of these spammers are Club WebTV members themselves. Inappropriate use of e-mail is no joking matter. The WebTV Networks Terms of Service, which all Club WebTV members agreed to when registering with the WebTV Network, states the following:Excerpts from WebTV Networks Terms of Service: In a voluntary effort to discourage mass mailings, WebTV Networks has cut down on the number of newsgroups you can cross-post to. To cut down on spam to your own e-mail account, try the following. Open an e-mail account which is always and only used to post to newsgroups. Write back to the culprit and ask to be removed from his mailing list. And when all else fails, use Discard! Hopefully, these measures will help you all avoid some of the bumps on the Information Superhighway. As you plot your route, we hope that Club WebTV is an informative road map and useful maintenance guide for your Internet vehicle! Enjoy! The Editors | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
