WebTV Networks' Customer Care Specialists often come across cool and unusual
places to visit on the Web. Every month we'll share some of our favorites
with you. This month, we also include some club members' sites that
have been created using their WebTV Internet terminals. WebTV Networks does not recommend
any particular site, or host, for publishing your own home page. However, services like Geocities, Tripod, and Angelfire let you set up your own personal site. If you use one and put together something nice, please feel free to send it to us
at ClubWebTV@webtv.net
Please note that WebTV Networks, Inc. does not guarantee the usability
or reliability of any of these host sites. If you have trouble publishing
or editing your site, please contact the host site. In addition, please
be aware that Club WebTV will not feature member sites that are commercial in nature.
We invite you to submit your favorite sites. When you find a web page
you think other Club WebTV members might enjoy, please drop
us a note at ClubWebTV@webtv.net.
Sites contributed by members will be marked with an asterisk (*).
Here are this month's best picks:
GardenNet: This site bills itself as the premier garden center on the Internet.
Library of Congress Home
Page: The Library of Congress has more information than just about anything else you can think of -- except maybe the World Wide Web.
Crayon: This cool site allows you to create your own personalized newspaper. Choose specific daily articles from CNN, USA Today Nationline, New York Times, NPR Newscast, PBS Newshour, US News Online, TIME Daily News Summary, and many more.
Life
Magazine's picture of the day: Just what it sounds like, including commentary about each picture.
World Birthday
Web: Add your own birthday, and see other peoples' birthdays. This wonderful
site includes a reminder service which will notify you, via email, a week
in advance of birthdays you want to remember. Note: The site requests that
you do not add peoples' birthdays without their permission.
A.Word.A.Day: Learn a new word every day.
Ruel's WebTV
Net Page: Includes very up-to-date information on WebTV Networks news,
WebTV Networks related links, and information about a book Ruel has written
specifically for Club WebTV members.
Voyager Project
Homepage: All that incredibly interesting stuff regarding the space
shuttle.
Avocado
Memories: Tugging on our memory strings, this site gives a pretty good
sample of what it was like to grow up in the 60's and 70's.
Nolo's
Self-Help Law Store: An excellent site for do-it-yourself law, this
page includes everything from estate planning and probate to immigration.
Nolo Press has long been a provider of virtually free legal advice, and is
now on the Net with even greater resources.
ZIPPO: While already in our Explore "tree," this site has made great efforts to re-design
their page for maximum use by Club WebTV members. This site can be used to search newsgroups very effectively. We're very pleased and proud that Zippo has made such an effort on behalf of our members.
Internet Weather Report: Did you know that the Internet has weather? This web site monitors the Internet by sending out messages (called packets), and seeing how many
replies it gets. When very few messages get through, that whole section of
the Internet may be in for a "storm"!
